Educational Technology

Dalton St Mary’s is proud to be an Apple Distinguished School, the Cumbria Regional Training Centre for Apple and an EdTech Demonstrator School on behalf of the DfE.

As a school, we are dedicated to provide learning opportunities through our inspiring teaching methods, which engage and motivate learners to reach their full potential, regardless of their ability.

We use innovative, creative ideas and the latest technology that Apple has to offer to access learning and ensure that children are encouraged to be critical thinkers and skills based learners.  We believe these qualities will stay with children for life.

We are one of only 41 Apple Distinguished Schools in the UK and one of only 41 EdTech Demonstrator Schools for the DfE. We are recognised for the outstanding use of technology to enhance learning in our school and being selected as the Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) for Cumbria, highlights our commitment to provide the very best education for our children using the latest technology available.

As an EdTech Demonstrator School we support schools all over the UK, working alongside Headteachers, Computing Subject Leaders, staff and children. We lead meetings, deliver tech training through staff meetings and model lessons either in school or virtually online.

Apple Regional Training Centres offer courses to build the skills and confidence of all educators to use Apple technology inside and outside the classroom. We are a community who shares best practices and inspire excellence through teaching with Apple technology.

As the Cumbria RTC, we are therefore able to facilitate training for teachers in our area to develop skills and build confidence to use Apple technology in the classroom

Across the UK and Ireland, the goals of all Apple Regional Training Centres are to:

  • Facilitate training opportunities for teachers to develop skills using Apple technology in the classroom
  • Promote Apple in Education and share new products and innovations with educators
  • Build Apple Teacher across the region
  • Share best practices, build community and inspire excellence

As an RTC we are able to create a local community to share best practice and support teaching staff to attain Apple Teacher status, a professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators.
Teachers from across the region can attend courses to build their knowledge and skills using technology in the classroom and earn badges to achieve their Apple Teacher recognition.
