"Valuing life, loving God, loving each other and ourselves" - Mark 12

Teaching Groups

Children are taught in single aged classes to cater for the needs of all children from Nursery through to Year 6. The organisation of teaching groups is reviewed carefully each academic year to maintain the most effective arrangement for all children and to utilise staff expertise.

Within each class, children have the opportunity to work individually, in pairs, groups and whole-class activities to have access to the best opportunities for learning and development.

Different learning styles are considered and planned for within each class group. The interest of the individual child is pivotal when planning learning and here at Dalton St Mary’s we endeavour to meet individual needs at all times.

Nursery : 8.45 –11.45 noon (Mornings)  12:15 – 3:15 (Afternoons)

If places are available parents are able to book full days for Nursery children at a charge of £10.00 per session.  Children staying all day bring their own packed lunch or purchase a hot school lunch (order and pay online through ParentPay) and are supervised during lunchtime for a small fee of £2.00.  Any parents wishing to enquire about extended days in Nursery should contact Mrs Irving in the school office.

Reception to Year 6 : 8.45 a.m. – 12 noon ~ 1.00 p.m. – 3.15 p.m.

This equates to 32.5 hours over the course of a school week.

Parents are asked to make sure that their children arrive on time in the morning between 8.30 and 8.45 a.m (Reception to Year 6). The outer doors from the playground will be opened at 8.30am each day and locked as soon as possible after 8.45am. Late-comers should come to the main entrance and be signed in on the electronic screen by an adult. Teachers may be in school before the start times but they will be preparing for the day ahead and not able to supervise early arrivals.

The children’s working day ends at 3.15p.m. and children may take a few minutes to gather their belongings before they come out of school. If you need a child immediately after school for an appointment please inform the class teacher.
